A novel solution to a testing problem.
The Envirofone app
Owned and operated by Redeem, Envirofone is one of the UK's leading trade-in brands. It specialises in the buyback of mobile phones direct from consumers. Following an increase in negative customer reviews online, the company identified an issue with their quoting process. Online quotes were subject to reductions if any faults were found with the customer's phone during testing, which was causing dissatisfaction with the service.
"If only the customer could test the phone themselves",
we thought. That's where the Envirofone app came in.
At the project's outset, I was tasked with creating a user journey/interface to lead the customer through a series of pre-existing hardware tests on device. The app needed to be easy to adapt for rollout to our partner clients: O2, Three and Tesco Mobile. As this was also the first app the company had ever produced, the design process needed to be considered carefully.

Conducting meetings with the product owner and key stakeholders throughout the project I carried out the following tasks:
Gathered essential business requirements through briefing
Defined user profiles
Blocked out high level app structure
Conducted/observed user tests of existing test functionality
Created detailed wireframes
Produced user journey prototype
Supported development team with design assets
Defined styles for animated transitioning
Created assets to add 'user delight' in phase 2
The Envirofone app passed through prototyping and alpha build stages on time and with minimal re-work. Despite some early concerns from key stakeholders, everyone was satisfied that the journey/interface was appropriate for both our user groups and satisfied the core business needs.
